October 12th- Weekly Post

Happy Friday!

Field Trip
Reminder we are going to Fort Calgary on Monday. Please ensure that students are on time Monday morning. The bus will be leaving around 8:45am.

Please remember to bring the following items:
-Lunch
-Water bottle
-Snack
-Proper footwear

At this moment the weather looks beautiful for Monday however living in Calgary we know that can change quickly. Please make sure to take a look at the forecast in the morning and to pack any weather appropriate items that may be needed.

Thank you to our volunteers for Monday. If you are volunteering please arrive around 8:35am to sign any papers and receive any updated information.  If parents would like to drive that would be helpful as the bus can get a little tight, parking onsite at Fort Calgary will be $6 for 7 hours. If you were unable to volunteer for this particular trip, do not worry we have one coming up in November.

Humanities
Red Journal- The question this week is “ In your opinion which are the two most important Canadian symbols? Why?”  We discussed how they should be including enough details to try and persuade the reader to agree with their opinion.

Science/Math
This week in math we continued our work on our Nerds problem- Could you eat 1 million nerds? This was very fun and we found that 1 million nerds would be a total of 1,112 packages of nerds, weighing in at 52Kg of nerds!!!

This week in science we looked at the different living and non-living things within a wetland ecosystem. We talked about producers, consumers and decomposers within these ecosystems and started placing them within an Energy Pyramid. Next week we will continue this exploration!

Have a great weekend!
