Happy Holidays!
Reminders:
- Monday January 7, 2019 is a Professional Development day so students will not have school, classes will resume on Tuesday January 8, 2019.
Math/Science:
In math this week we completed our multiplication unit with a summative assessment (Test) on Tuesday. Students did very well in both classes with an average of just over 80% for both groups of students. The test included 4 computation questions, 6 multiple choice, 2 word problems, and 1 bonus question. I gave lots of part marks, considering both the accuracy of answers as well as the proper completion of the multiple steps required. Students received their marks on Wednesday (they are also posted on Power School) and we went over the test together. We focused our discussion around the estimation multiple choice questions, these were the hardest part of the test for most students.
In science we continued our work with weather, looking at atmospheric pressure, weather fronts, wind and clouds. Students worked in groups to research and discuss how these elements of weather play a role in forecasting and communicating weather patterns. If not completed, students were asked to bring their weather research booklets home to work on over the holidays. Students need to finish the first three pages and can use the following online link, https://www.weatherwizkids.com/ to fill out jot notes for each question. Students have been shown this and know where to go!
Have a wonderful holiday everyone!
