June 14th- Weekly Post

Happy Friday!

Math/Science:
This Week in math students started learning about transformation (slides, flips and rotations) of a shape and the coordinate points used to communicate these changes on the Cartesian plane. Over the next week students will complete a pixel art project where they will show the above transformations within the Cartesian plane, communicating the change in coordinates at their shapes move between the four quadrants.

In science students spent most of this week working with circuits, students had the chance to play and explore the concepts covered this term using the hands-on circuit kits. Students had a chance to demonstrate their understanding of parallel, series and simple circuits as well as build different types of switches to show an open and closed circuit.

On Tuesday June 18th students will have an open book quiz on the concepts covered within our Electricity and Magnetism unit. This test will act more as a practice, rather than a summative grade, for the coming years when students will have final exams. The google doc PowerPoint slide in the science shared folder is where students will find the information that will be covered on the quiz, slides #30-56. This has been discussed with both classes and students are aware of the expectation.

Homework:

Students in 5-4 have their Futuristic Fraction Cities due on Monday June 17th, these went home on Friday!

Have a great weekend!
