June 21st- Weekly Post

Happy Friday!

Math/Science:
This week in math students continued their pixel art projects that explored transformations of a shape within the Cartesian plane. In addition to our work with shapes and space students completed a couple word problems that focused on patterning. Students explored strategies for extending and communicating changes within a pattern. We discussed the use of a pattern rule to assist in extending patterns, using a table to indicate input and outputs of a pattern. This helped students communicate a pattern rule as something that happens within the input/output table, rather than something that only changes between the outputs.

In science students completed their open book unit test on Electricity and Magnetism. For the remainder of the week students worked on a summative science timeline, capturing the different units and facts they have learned throughout the year in Science. Students were encouraged to use diagrams and jot notes to show their understandings from each unit.

Homework: Complete pixel art for math.

Have a great weekend (3 more days)!
