Field Trip forms for Open Minds must be signed and returned to
school by Monday May 27th for students to attend.
Math/Science:
This week in math students completed their rough drafts of their
Garden blueprints using Volume and Metric Conversion concepts. Students started
selecting and “planting” vegetables within their garden boxes, calculating the
profits they would earn based on the type and amount of each vegetable they
selected. Next week 5-3 will be at Open Minds but 5-4 students will continue
their work on these Garden blueprints. 5-4 students will finalize their garden
boxes and start making a good copy of their Garden blueprint.
In science students finished learning about electromagnetism and
started looking at different types of circuits. In learning about both parallel
and series circuits students will need to determine which type they will use
when installing watering and lighting systems within their Garden project. This
next step will unfold over the coming weeks.
