Hi Parents,
Reminders:
- We will be hosting weekly, Monday morning, homework support from 8:00-8:30am for student's who would like to finish up homework that is due.
- I would encourage students to continue working on their basic fact knowledge of multiplication, up to 9x9, outside of school. Resources (games and worksheets) are available on google docs (shared with students) through the provided links, but flash cards and a multiplication chart work as well.
Math/Science:
This week in Math we continued our work with multiplication, building basic facts through mental math and estimation games. Students completed the games, Beetle Blitz and The Greatest Product, to improve their skills within these stems of mathematics. During this time students were asked to verbally communicate their mathematic process to better understand and represent the importance of place value, doubling and halving when completing multiplication tasks. Next week students will complete a check-in slip on Partial Product multiplication and work on completing 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication word problems.
In Science we have started our 2-D Wetland Poster Project. Students have taken on the role of a "man-made wetland designer" to create one of the four types of wetland ecosystems common to Alberta. Students are working in teams of 4-5 students to complete research and then the construction of their wetland. We will be showcasing these posters during the Learning Conference in December and are very excited for you to see them!
Have a wonderful weekend!
