Math/Science:
This week
in math we worked on comparing and ordering fractions with common and uncommon
numerators/denominators. Students explored different ways to compare these
fractions using number lines, pictures and calculations. Students were
encouraged to use factors and multiples to help them find common denominators
to simplify this process. At the end of the week we started working with
equivalent fractions and reducing fractions, this will continue into next week.
In science
we started our new unit, Electricity and Magnetism. Students worked in groups
to brainstorm where electricity exists in their world (in nature and in their
homes) as well as sources of electrical energy. Students completed a research
page covering these topics after brainstorming, these pages will be due on
Monday April 8, students should use the Ducksters website to help them complete it- URL: https://www.ducksters.com/science/physics/electricity_in_nature.php and https://www.ducksters.com/science/electricity_uses.php )
Next week
we will focus on building our electrical vocabulary, understanding safety measures associated with using
electricity and basic materials needed for building an electrical circuit.
Have a
great weekend!
