This week is humanities, students learned about the explorers who came to what is now known as Canada. We watched a few videos that gave mini bios on Henry Hudson, Samuel de Champlain, Jacques Cartier and John Cabot.  We also researched from the textbook and on the internet for additional information on each explorer.

With their information students created Instagram pages for two of the explorers, with their own hashtags. In addition they picked the explorer that they believe was the "best" explorer and wrote an opinion paragraph on them. They used the OREO format to help organize their information.

Next week, we will be looking at some of the First Nation groups that lived in Canada prior to the Europeans arriving. We will than look at the interactions that took place and how the fur trade came to be.
