February 8th- Weekly Post

Hi Parents,

Reminders;
- Please return signed report card envelopes to school
- Please review and sign the science test

Math/Science:
This week in math we worked on multi-step word problems using both division and multiplication concepts. We focused on reading problems carefully to determine what type of operation we need to use to solve the different questions being asked. At the end of the week we talked about dividing without remainders (using decimals). Students practiced this using long division. Next week we will work with the divisibility rules and play some activities to better understand them. We will officially be moving into our decimals and fractions unit on February 19th.

This week in science students completed their Weather and Wetlands unit test. It was an open book test and the average was 81% across both classes. Well done grade 5's! At the end of the week we kicked off our Chemistry unit by discussing the different states of matter. Next week we will complete our first lab report and experiment on the differences between gases.

Have a great weekend!
